Electrically Induced Liquid–Liquid Phase Transition in a Floating Water Bridge Identified by Refractive Index Variations

چکیده
A horizontal electrohydrodynamic (EHD) liquid bridge (also known as a “floating water bridge”) is phenomenon that forms when high voltage DC (kV·cm−1) applied to pure in two separate beakers. The bridge, free-floating connection between the beakers, acts cylindrical lens and refracts light. Using an interferometric set-up with line pattern placed background of light passing through split into horizontally vertically polarized component which are both projected image space front small vertical offset (shear). Apart from 100 Hz waviness due resonance effect power supply vortical structures at onset spikes increased refractive index moving were observed. These can be explained by electrically induced liquid–liquid phase transition vibrational modes molecules couple coherently.

Reducing Refractive Index Variations in Compression Molded Lenses by Annealing
Compression molding of glass optics is gradually becoming a viable fabrication technique for high precision optical lenses. However, refractive index variation was observed in compression molded glass lenses, which would contribute to image quality degradation. In this research, annealing experiments were applied to control the refractive index variation in molded glass lenses. The refractive i...

Magnetite (Fe3O4), an archetypal transition-metal oxide, has been used for thousands of years, from lodestones in primitive compasses to a candidate material for magnetoelectronic devices. In 1939, Verwey found that bulk magnetite undergoes a transition at TV approximately 120 K from a high-temperature 'bad metal' conducting phase to a low-temperature insulating phase. He suggested that high-te...

2014 A measurement of the 3 principal refractive indices of azoxy-4,4’ (di-undecyl 03B1-methyl cinnamate) is made in the vicinity of the 2nd order smectic-A to smectic-C phase transition. The experimental procedure is : first the index differences are measured using the conoscopic method, then the absolute value of one of the indices is determined using an Abbe refractometer. In the smectic-A p...
